What Is Biohacking?
Biohacking is the practice of using science, technology, and natural methods to optimize physical and mental performance. For me, it’s about healing the body after addiction, boosting recovery, and maintaining discipline and focus through small, consistent habits.
Much of my inspiration comes from Dave Asprey, often called the “Father of Biohacking,” who has shared methods for improving energy, focus, and longevity through nutrition, light exposure, sleep optimization, and mindful breathing.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own. — 1 Corinthians 6:19 (ESV)
Faith-Based Biohacking
Biohacking, for me, is not about control — it’s about stewardship. God gave us incredible bodies and minds, and I believe optimizing them honors Him.
Through prayer, fasting, clean nutrition, recovery, and movement, I strive to align my physical, mental, and spiritual health.
Daily Habits & Tools
- Morning Cold Exposure — Ice baths or cold showers for mental clarity and resilience
- Breathwork & Meditation — Centering prayer to start the day with focus and gratitude
- Clean Nutrition — Whole foods, hydration, and mindful eating
- Supplements — Natural energy and brain support (vitamin D, omega-3s, magnesium)
- Sleep Optimization — Early wind-down, no screens before bed, journaling, and prayer
Fasting & Renewal
I practice intermittent fasting not just for physical health but spiritual renewal. It’s a way to deny self and focus on God’s word and strength.
During fasts, I replace cravings with scripture, water, and gratitude.
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
— Matthew 4:4
Specific Biohacks I Use
Cold Plunges & Cryotherapy
Cold exposure stimulates the vagus nerve, strengthens the immune system, and increases dopamine. I use cold plunges several times per week to improve recovery after runs and calm my mind.
“Discomfort is the doorway to growth.”
Red Light Therapy
Red light and near-infrared therapy enhance mitochondrial function and cell regeneration. I use it daily on joints and face to reduce inflammation and support recovery.
Breathwork
From Wim Hof to box breathing — intentional breathwork reduces anxiety, increases oxygen efficiency, and has been vital to my sobriety and spiritual connection.
Earthing (Grounding)
Walking barefoot on grass or soil reduces inflammation, improves sleep, and reconnects me with God’s creation.
Blue Light Blocking
I wear blue blockers after sunset to protect melatonin and circadian rhythm. This one change dramatically improved my sleep and morning energy.
Mindset & Purpose
Biohacking is not just about adding years to life — it’s about adding life to years.
Through recovery and faith, I’ve learned that the mind follows what the spirit believes. Every breath, every heartbeat, and every act of discipline is worship when done with the right heart.
Goal: Live sharper, recover faster, pray deeper, and serve others through my journey.
